RAROTONGA VS AITUTAKI (Rugby 15s) matches on Tuesday 20th & Friday 23rd July 2021
THIS WEEKS RUGBY ACTION:
This week we welcome some regional-level youth competition with the U19 Rarotonga v Aituaki Rugby 15s series of matches to be played on Tuesday and Friday this week.
Brief Background: The CIRU vision was to create a youth competition pathway from home inclusive of our outer families………….. so in 2019 the inaugural U19 Rarotonga v Aitutaki Rugby 15s series was played in Aitutaki and this ended in a drawn 1-all series with; Rarotonga winning Game #1: 15 – 6 and then Aitutaki reversed the ledger by winning Game #2: 15 – 9.
The 2021 – U19 Rarotonga team is coached by ex-national CI reps Turori Matutu/Terry Henry/Teokotai Tuaivi and managed by the world famous Aunty Lydia Nga.
The U19 Aitutaki squad have been training and under the leadership of Graham Jefferies/Drollet Joseph/Len Toi and they will start arriving Rarotonga on Monday 19th July with the following matches to be played on:
Match #1: Tuesday 20th July at Arorangi Field @ 4.30pm: U19 Rarotonga v Aitutaki.
Match #2: Friday 23rd July at Avatiu Field @ 4.30pm: U19 Rarotonga v Aitutaki.
Saturday 24th JULY 2021 @ Tupapa Field: all the Round #4 matches will be played atTupapa Field – so watch this space for the draw.
2021 already has some exciting opportunities in store for players to show their skills and talents on the field, and for communities to become involved in the management of their clubs and players.
